At the Pakistan High Commission UK in London, Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar addressed an esteemed gathering of British-Pakistani lawyers to discuss Pakistan’s stance on the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT). The event, hosted by H.E. Dr. Faisal, High Commissioner, and Barrister Amjad Malik, served as a vital platform to deliberate on Pakistan’s water rights and the broader implications for regional peace.
Senator Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm position, stating:
“Pakistan’s stance is clear — we will safeguard our water rights under the Indus Waters Treaty. Peace is our desire, not our weakness.”
I had the honor of presenting a legal framework paper, outlining the legal response and strategic direction for Pakistan concerning the treaty.
The session underscored the collective resolve to protect Pakistan’s national interests, strengthen legal advocacy, and promote sustainable cooperation in the region.
Together, we continue to stand for justice, sovereignty, and a secure future for Pakistan.
